What is PCOS?
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder among women of reproductive age. PCOS is far more common than some realize. In fact, PCOS affects every 1-in-10 women, adding up to 500,000 women in Canada.

Women suffering from PCOS present a group of symptoms associated with menstrual irregularities and androgen (male hormone) excess, which significantly impacts their quality of life.
Common symptoms of PCOS include irregular or missed periods, excessive hair growth, hair thinning or hair loss, weight gain, oily and acne prone skin, and infertility.
If left untreated PCOS can cause mild to sever complications in the body. Such complications can include the risk of developing insulin resistance, and pre-diabetes, abnormal cholesterol levels, endometrial cancer, heart disease, stroke, sleep apnea, obesity, and psychological disorders.
As common as it is, PCOS is quite underrated as a disorder amongst women.
There are several approaches to managing PCOS. A combination of estrogen and progestin hormones (oral contraceptives), synthetic progestin, androgen-lowering spironolactone, metformin, and natural health supplements such as Ovofolic (combination of Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol).
Ovofolic is dietary supplement created by Elan Healthcare for the reproductive health of women with PCOS.
Ovofolic features Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol in the body’s naturally occurring 40:1 ratio, for optimal bioactivity. It’s packed in individual sachets to guarantee freshness and equal doses while being easy to carry and take on the go!
The combination of Myo-inositol (MI) and D-chiro-inositol (DCI) is proven effective in the treatment of PCOS. Formulated using the physiological plasm 40:1 ratio ensures better clinical results, such as the reduction of insulin resistance, androgens’ blood levels, cardiovascular risk, and regularization of the menstrual cycle with spontaneous ovulation.
The powder form creates an efficient, safe way to intake a higher dosage, creating convenience and cost-savings.
Myo-inositol (MI) and D-chiro-inositol (DCI), two inositol stereoisomers, have been proven to be effective in PCOS treatment. Research supports that it is only the combined therapy of MI and DCI that improves oocyte and embryo quality, as well as pregnancy rates, in PCOS women undergoing IVF-ET. MI plays a crucial role in the ovary in PCOS women. Due to the physiological role played by MI and DCI, the combined therapy MI plus DCI can improve the metabolic profile of PCOS women, therefore reducing the cardiovascular risk.
Folate is another crucial ingredient in the management of PCOS symptoms.
Folate is a type of B vitamin that helps your body produce and maintain new cells and helps prevent changes to DNA that may lead to cancer. Folate is vital to the normal growth of fetal spine, brain, and skull. Taking a daily vitamin supplement that has folate can reduce the risk of fetal neural tube defect. All women who could become pregnant need to take a multivitamin with 0.4 mg of folate in it every day. Even women who are not planning to become pregnant, need to take folate because many pregnancies are unplanned, and folate helps to make and maintain new cells.
To receive maximum results, use Ovofolic twice a day, morning, and evening. Stir the contents of each pouch into water or any beverage until the powder is dissolved, then drink and enjoy your first step into a life with manageable PCOS!
