Have you ever wondered why some people who take good care of their health can still experience health challenges such as infertility, fatigue and anxiety, while others who are more casual about their health aren’t getting sick?
Written by Guest Blogger: Catherine Gagnon, an Emotional Alchemist, Mind-Body Healing Practitioner and Master NLP Transformational Health Coach who works with people who are tired of being tired and worried.
What are the factors that make the difference?
Did you know that you could be eating the best food ever, exercise daily and take the best supplements in the world, but if your mind and heart are filled with self-critical anxious thoughts, judgment (of self and others), resentment and stress, this will create toxic emotions that can significantly decrease your vitality, affect your mood and hinder your ability to get pregnant.
What’s the connection there?
Your thoughts and emotions produce neurological connections in the brain which eventually reach your hypothalamus, the official control center responsible for keeping your body in a stable state of balance called homeostasis.
When thoughts are distressing or negative, your hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis will send chemical signals throughout your body to trigger a stress response. This is when you might feel heart palpitations, sweaty palms, difficulty concentrating and your whole body is preparing to go to “war” against an invisible enemy. When the stress response is activated, any “non vital” function such as reproduction and even digestion might shut down because your body is tucking its reserves away and slowing down your metabolism. Even low to moderate stress can be deleterious when it’s experienced chronically on a daily basis.
On top of life’s stressors, this also includes all the daily things that are going on in your mind such as: “I should”; “ I’m not good enough”; “I’m not a good person if I say no”; “why didn’t I?”.
It also includes the patterns of putting other people’s needs before your own, people pleasing behaviours, thinking that you always have to “do more” in order to be worthy of what you want, working yourself to the bone to “deserve” a pause, staying in jobs/relationships/situations that are not aligned with who you are authentically and literally draining your energy.
A few years ago I became sick with what I later found out was chronic Lyme disease. Even though I was working as a Nurse Practitioner, it quickly became clear that the answers weren’t found in the current medical field. Out of the multiples symptoms I had (fatigue, pain, brain fog, night sweats, palpitations, digestive issues… ), one of them was my cycles that went from 28 to 70 days.
That’s when I realized that the last thing a body under attack wants to do, is to reproduce itself!! Reproduction becomes an expendable luxury for the body when everything else is out of balance physically and emotionally!
Alone in the fight, I did extensive research and built a thorough evidence-based protocol which addresses all six pillars to heal from Lyme (and from any illness really). I have been teaching and implementing this protocol with my clients who suffer from Lyme disease.
The six pillars are:
- Reduce the cytokine inflammatory cascade (we’ve seen this one a lot with covid19)
- Support the adrenals and mitochondria
- Modulate the immune system for proper function
- Daily detox from dead pathogens, parasites, electrosmog, toxic people, and negative emotions
- Repair damaged tissues and psyche
It wasn’t enough to take the top quality medicinal herbs, supplements and proper foods. Soon I realized that if I was to heal completely, I had to face the emotional toxicity that had been attacking my psyche and my body for a long time! I had to face my fears to live my life on my terms rather than how others wanted me to live. I had to face the fact that I was feeling out of alignment with the linear medical paradigm in which I was practicing. My inner voice was telling me to leave my NP job and practice transformational coaching full time. I was afraid of failure, secretly ashamed that all of my studies would be “wasted” and felt very anxious about the future given that I was spending a fortune to heal from Lyme with no guarantee that it would work.
The inner journey to clean up my emotional world allowed my body to come back to balance and heal in ways that are unheard of in the world of chronic Lyme!
It’s such a privilege now to enjoy my full health and guide my clients to regain energy, mental clarity and inner peace using the skills that got me out of illness, namely Transformational Coaching and Emotional Alchemy.
Emotional alchemy is the process of transforming heavy dark emotions into light golden emotions, which then become the leverage to propel you forward in creating a life you love.
Transformational coaching helps to reprogram the subconscious mind and adopt empowering beliefs so you can feel better and are able to master your thoughts and emotions. Your body can then relax, enjoy full health and have the luxury to use its ressources towards getting pregnant.
If you’ve been struggling with health challenges despite all your efforts, it might be time to look under the blanket of your emotional world.
Even though it feels scary or messy, I can assure you this is where the treasure is!
Don’t go there alone, reach out to get help and clarity on your path to fertility.
