You might not know it but your body may already have so many toxins inside. You used to have so much energy, you used to be less irritable, you’ve never had headaches like this before…sound familiar? None of these things seem serious enough to warrant a trip to the Doctor but maybe you have been to the Doctor and it’s still not getting any better. When these issues persist and begin to wear you down – take notice – you’re not just getting old.

Our bodies are pretty amazing creations and man do we put them through the ringer from time to time. Our bodies are so unique and they talk to us, but are we really listening to what they are trying to tell us? If you’re anything like us, you have no idea how your body was talking to you!
Here are 9 signs that your body might be taking in too many toxins:
Please note that you should always check with your Doctor to eliminate any underlying medical issues or conditions that may be causing these symptoms.
you know that just got 8 hours of sleep and I can barely make it through the day kind of feeling? There’s not enough coffee or chocolate cake in the world to shrug off this tired feeling. This could very well be a warning sign that your body is working overtime fighting the amount of toxins it’s being exposed to on a daily. Pesky little things called hormone disruptors could be zapping your immune system and zapping all of your body’s energy.
2: Recurrent skin reactions
redness, itchiness, acne, rashes – the kind that just doesn’t go away. Your body eliminates toxins in 3 ways: urine, bowel movements and lastly your skin. When your body is filled to the brim with dozens of potential toxins that your body just can’t handle, it freaks out. Period.
3: Weight gain
you’ve started exercising regularly, you’re eating “clean”, you’ve thrown out the junk food and the weight is going NOWHERE. Did you know that the food you’re eating no matter how clean, and the personal care products you’re using could be interfering with your body’s natural hormone function? Your body may be needing a complete food and personal care detox.
4: Irregular bowel movements
let’s face it, it’s not the ‘smooth moves’ of the past! Your bowel movements are too loose, too tight, too much, too little. Your intestines work to expel toxins and many of the processed foods and personal care products we use are filled with harmful chemicals, pesticides, or preservatives that cause major problems for our intestines.
5: Muscle aches & pains
but you can’t remember the last time you hit the gym. There’s only so much toxin-related stress our bodies can take before our muscles and joints begin to breakdown. Processed foods and too much beef can deplete us of minerals like magnesium which leads to muscle stiffness among other things.
6: Scent sensitivity
You’d rather take an ice cold shower than to think of the headache or upset stomach you get from having to walk down the perfume, laundry, or automotive aisle. Many manufacturers of products that contain fragrance (parfum), such as laundry detergents and hand soaps, do not need to list the majority of their chemical ingredients.
7: Frequent mood swings
anxiety/depression/irritability even without any family history. You can not figure out what’s going on, but you’re just not feeling like your old self. Long term repeated exposure to pesticides used on fruits and vegetables found on the ‘dirty dozen” list could be causing your strife
the type that massages & over the counter pain medications just aren’t helping. Joel Fuhrman, M.D. states, “The major cause of both tension headaches and migraines is the retention of toxins or tissue irritants within the central nervous system. These chemical irritants may cause an over sensitivity of nerve tissues to other stimuli. Headaches are a signal that something is wrong. Typically, they result from retained wastes or toxins in the body.”
9: Irregular Menstrual cycles
you’re at the point where you have no idea when Aunt Flow is coming to town, how long she’s going to stay and you can not predict how she’s going to make you feel. Chronic exposure to toxins found in our food and personal care products can cause hormone disruption that will leave your visit with Aunt Flow unpredictable.
So, what can we do to help our bodies flush some of these toxins out?! Great question and the answer was way different 50 years ago when we weren’t bombarded with pollution, pesticides, and chemicals in our personal care products, food, and water supply. In today’s world, we are bombarded with toxins daily in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the products we put on our skin. Nowadays, our bodies need help getting the excess toxins out, and here are some quick tips to help you along with your toxin-free journey.
- Use personal care products that are free of: fragrance (parfum), sulfates, phthalates, parabens, glycols (PEGs), phenoxyethanol. Give the ingredient list a scan to see if you see any words that contain these little boogers.
- Eat organic fruits, veggies and meats as much as possible
- Drink plenty of alkaline water – it helps balance the pH of the body and helps flush out toxins
